Live. Learn. Play.

Learning is everywhere, and life should be full of play! When we play games, play around with ideas, or even play with our own identities, we are driven by curiosity and exploration, two essential components of a deep learning experience. This is the approach I take when designing tools for learning, assessments, workshops, or even the design process itself. Play looks different for everyone and my goal is to help each learner discover their own sense of play and learning.

As a thought leader in the ed tech field with a career across public media, academia, and industry, I have explored my passion for game-based learning, playful pedagogies, and inclusive design. I have led the design and development of a variety of inclusive, playful learning experiences, contributing to research on how technology can support transformative learning experiences for students and teachers. I also bring the playfulness of games into my assessment design work, creating digital and non-digital tools to help both learners and educators assess open-ended work and future-ready skills. In addition to these areas, I support other designers and organizations in creating innovative ed tech and curriculum for deep learning.

I have a B.A. in Computer Science from Brown University and an Ed.M. in Technology, Innovation, and Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. After spending over a decade doing research on digital games and creative learning at MIT, I was most recently the Director of Learning Design at Kahoot!. I also teach the course "Ed Tech Advanced Design Studio" in the LDIT program at the Harvard Ed School.

I live in Cambridge, Massachusetts and I try to find whimsy wherever I can, from making knitted stuffed animals to creating puzzle hunt games for my kids.
